P R E S S I N G in

i L O V E this image. this is what i want my life to look like to those around me. i want my life to be laid prostrate before His throne daily. i want each moment to be worship. i want to be completely lost in the love of Jesus Christ.

I remember when I would rush home after work, throw my things down, run into my room, and close the door. I'd sit on my bed and the Lord would just begin to speak and I would feel Him!

Ah! His presence...

I lived for those moments! and they came so easily.

Until they stopped coming so easily, and the Lord required me to really P R E S S in, to experience more of Him.  I refer to as P R E S S I N G in as being similar to what David described as commanding his soul, how Jacob wrestled with God, or Jesus in Luke 22:44. They were pressing in!

They had to press past their emotions, distractions, and opposition to get into the presence of God.

And their lives were never the same once they left that moment.

I have to ask myself often, how often do I throw up 5 minute prayers and miss getting into the presence of God because I am being lazy or because I'm tired or because I couldn't feel Him? When am I going to stop being led by the flesh and take the time to P R E S S in, even if it takes hours!?

This is one of the hardest things for me because it requires a lot of discipline.

Some strategies that have helped me P R E S S in when I don't just feel His presence instantly:

1. I always start my quiet time by repenting
(sin separates us from  God, this time is for me to get closer to Him so I start here)

2. Read Scripture or a Devotional Book

3. Determine how that scripture is relevant to your life & W R I T E it down!
(it is always relevant!)

4.   Thank God for speaking & thank Him for everything else He has done today
(from the smallest things - like clean underwear to the larger things)

5. Lay your burdens before Him - Speak them!
(visualize yourself leaving them at the throne of God)

6. Lay your life at the throne - Speak it!
(visualize it!)

7. Worship! Until the Lord starts speaking

8. Be quiet & listen

by the end, that picture up top is pretty much my life. sprawled out somewhere, completely L O S T in love!

i get butterflies just talking about that place!

Remember P R E S S I N G in has nothing to do with how hungry you are to get in the presence of God. In fact, it is the complete opposite, it is chasing Him when you have no desire, its not optimal, and when you don't think your eyes will stay open one more second.

similar to working out, once you get through it you'll be so glad you did.

keep P R E S S I N G. this is training ground for what's to come!

J O U R N A Ling

I love quiet time/ reading on my jumbo round couch, driving, or just sitting in my car pulled over to the side of the road... because that is when my mind is silent enough for me to hear the Lord speaking most clearly.

After the Lord speaks to you, what do you do?

I would normally just get really excited and say "Wow!", "I am going to do that!" or call and tell someone what was just revealed to me.  Rarely did I write things down... writing was boring, made my hands hurt, and took forever!

However, the Lord does not say tell the vision, the Lord instructs us to "write the vision".  So, I pushed my spoiled little emotions to the side, told them to shut up, and picked my pen up.  The reward of journaling may not be evident immediately (if it never becomes evident to you, it doesn't matter - someone may find your journal years after you have left the earth and it may lead them to Jesus - just do it in obedience).

My reward in journaling is reading what I have written years later. I am reminded of where I was, who I was, and what the Lord spoke into my life.  I am taken back to the most amazing moments in my life and am instantly reignited. Or I am reminded of the toughest moments and remember how the Lord brought me through! Either way the outcome is the same. My passion and fire for God and my purpose are set ablaze!

I challenge you to find the place where your spirit is the quietest, start journaling. and be open to however the Lord speaks to you in the process!

P L A Y L i s t

I am an avid music lover! Thus, music was my primary hurdle when first committing to a relationship with Christ. I knew I had to give up the filth I allowed to infiltrate my mind on a regular basis...

I knew it was time to "turn down" for what? intimacy with Jesus.

Reluctantly I went on my new journey of music discovery.

Since then, I have learned to love new kinds of music. It was a long, sometimes grueling journey.
my music withdrawals were no joke.

However, I am excited to start sharing some of my favorite songs of the moment with you all! Granted there are very many omitted from this list. Here are just a randomly selected few.

Check them out and tell me what you think!

I'll Hide Your Word in My Heart

Memorizing the Bible

"I have hidden Your Word in my heart, that I might not sin against You."
Psalm 119:11

This morning I was spending time with the Lord and decided I was going to start memorizing the Bible. With the goal being to memorize the Word by the end of 2014 - in 1 year and 1 month.

I realize this is impossible for a girl who struggles reading, has never been able to memorize scripture, and has very little time working from 8am - 8pm most days...lol but I LOVE opportunities to lean entirely on God.

So HERE WE GO! Another challenge... I'm praying and believing that I will commit to this one entirely.

My Reason
There are a ton of benefits to memorizing scripture. I can go into those in a later post, but I do believe that is one thing we should all strive to do.  However, honestly I chose to do this now because I was getting kind of bored with just reading the Word.  It is natural to get bored when you are doing the same thing every day. So, we had to mix it up a bit. Keep our love life interesting :) haha! I love Jesus!

My Method
I looked up how other people memorize the Bible and have talked with people about their methods for memorizing scripture. (I will write another post explaining why I chose these methods, but for now...)

This is what I am doing to memorize scripture:

1. Reading the Word out loud several times (meditating on it and praying for revelation)
2. Reading the Word while speaking in tongues several times
3. Reciting the Word with my eyes closed
4. Reciting the Word with my eyes open
5. Reading the Word again speaking in tongues

Pour In to Pour Out

Please Support Missions! DONATE HERE

I am thrilled to have the opportunity to go to Brazil, Honduras, and India in 2014, in addition to the missions work I do in the States.  I am believing that I will be fully funded this year.  If you can, please donate here! Any amount will be greatly appreciated!

As a monthly partner or one-time supporter there are great opportunities to get involved and experience what is happening on the field and how you are literally changing someone's eternity.

When you GIVE here, please include your information so that I may get in contact with you!

What Will I Be Doing?

My first trip will be to Brazil. I will be working with a women's and children's refuge center. I am thrilled about this! My heart is without a doubt for children; but also for affirming, edifying, and empowering women and men, and equipping them to realize their worth through the eyes of God.

My next stop will be to Honduras.  I will be working with a group of missionaries to host a mass crusade! We will spend time in the communities bringing food, clothes, and toys to the needy. While in the communities we will also be praying for individuals and leading them to a relationship with Christ.

My last international trip will be to India. Where I will be working in slums. I will be bringing food and resources to the needy, as well as praying for and encouraging hearts there.

I will simultaneously be continuing my ministry in the States for young ladies. Hosting bible studies, doing side walk evangelism and prayer, community service, and empowering young ladies. I am hoping to take a group of girls with me to Honduras and am trying to raise some support for them as well.

Again, thank you so much for you love, prayers, and support. All of your donations will go to missions (with the exception of the 8% that will be taken from utilizing the online resource). Every dollar counts! Your donation will directly impact lives! Thank you for pouring into me so that I may pour into others!

I love you dearly!

My Life as A Missionary

I have actually just come to terms with the concept of referring to myself as a missionary. I always viewed the term "missionary" as a pretty lofty title reserved for those journeying through the jungles, desserts, or desolate violence infested lands with solely their Bible and a huge burden to share the love of Jesus Christ.

However, the definition of a missionary is simple - it is a person who is sent on a mission.

I am reminded of my mission every single day when I wake up and walk into my classroom. I love my kids.  I love them intensely, I love them unconditionally, and I teach them to love each other. I pray for them and I pray with them.  There's no way you could tell me they weren't my own.

When I am not in the classroom, I am somewhere pouring into marriages. I'd say my marriage ministry is pretty strong for a single person.  I have personally declared WAR on the spirits of lust and infidelity.  I am made it one of my missions to support and edify marriages because I believe that God created marriage to allow us to see even deeper into His heart.

How dare Satan try to destroy such a powerful tool!

On the weekends, I create safe spaces for young ladies to pour their hearts out to each other and to Christ. I shower them with love, prayer, advice, affirmation, encouragement, laughter, smiles, and hugs, lots and lots of hugs.

So even though I am not in the jungle or building up communities in war torn cities...

I am watching God build up the next generation of world changers and uplift a spiritually torn community through a group of seriously empowered young ladies. I can see revival starting to bud all around me in families and marriages.

Although my dream is to become a more full time missionary in desolate communities around the world. I will never despise humble beginnings, the process of refinement, or the Will of God. I am simply a free, submitted vessel running wherever the Lord tells me to go. I may not know much about the direction I will go in, but I will always have a clear mission - to spread the love of Christ; therefore, I will forever be a missionary.

Love, Kamilah

"Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20

Be Fruity

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,  gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law." Galatians 5:22-23
My new year resolution for 2012 was to focus on the fruits of the Spirit. I felt like that is what the Lord told me to do. Unfortunately, like many resolutions, I came up with a beautiful plan that failed horribly. I didn't even remember that resolution until the end of the year - I tried to jump on the band wagon really quickly so I could mark it off for 2012, but when I started praying about what I should focus on in 2013 & the Lord pressed my heart with the exact same thing.  I was disappointed because I felt like the Lord must have been like, "Kamilah, you didn't do what you were supposed to do, so let's try this again."

Half way through 2013 I realized I had done the same thing. Forgot to focus on the one goal the Lord really gave me for the year. So I came up with a plan to make sure that I am fruity EVERY single day.

I created a posted note reminder on my mirror in front of my bed. It has my daily chores, the fruits I am intentionally focusing on and praying for that day, as well as other prayer foci. I also get fruit reminders throughout the day on my phone (which I pre-programmed :P) . I try to meditate on them during the day.

The Fruits of the Spirit:
  • Love
  • Peace
  • Joy
  • Patience
  • Kindness
  • Goodness
  • Faithfulness
  • Self-Control
  • Gentleness

2013 is almost over and I want to be disciplined, I don't want the Lord to have to tell me again for 2014...focus on those fruits girl. I know I will never have "arrived" and reach my fruitiness capacity, but I want to become fruitier and fruitier every single day of my life.
